Health or Friendship Science

Hello! ☀️☀️

Today, I researched about friends.✨✨

Do you have friends?✨✨

During childhood or adolescence, it’s easy to make friends naturally while going to school. However, as we become adults and start working, forming friendships becomes more challenging compared to when we were younger.✨✨

Nowadays, with the rise of freelancing, many people might spend their days alone without meeting others.✨

So, I investigated the benefits of having friends and the drawbacks of not having friends.☀️

Benefits of Having Friends:

1. Social Support:

Friends can help you when you’re in trouble.

2. Social Connections:

Friends can introduce you to their friends, expanding your network.

3. Increased Opportunities:

You may get job offers or other opportunities through acquaintances.

4. Lower Health Risks:

Improvements in sleep, reduced overall mortality risk, and lower risk of mental health issues.

Drawbacks of Not Having Friends:

1. Lack of Social Support:

No one to help when you’re in trouble.

2. Fewer Opportunities:

Lower chances of getting job offers or other opportunities.

3.Increased Health Risks:

The stress of not having friends is equivalent to smoking a cigarette daily, which can increase the risk of early death.

However, it’s not just the quantity of acquaintances that matters but whether you have true friends who genuinely help you in times of need, which significantly impacts your health.☀️☀️

Research Findings:

A study involving 5030 couples showed that if one partner’s mental health is weak, it negatively affects the other’s mental health. Poor health can lead to increased stress and impact friendships.✨✨

On the other hand, having friends who are good role models and healthy has been linked to better mutual health over ten years and reduced risks of conditions like colitis and hypertension.😳😳

The Role of Social Media:

While social media like Facebook and Instagram have made it easier to communicate with friends daily, the relationship between social media use and health is still debated. Some studies suggest a weak connection, while others find no significant relationship. However, having many mutual followers on Facebook has been linked to a lower mortality rate after two years.✨✨

Despite this, social media can also increase screen time, lower mental satisfaction, and may not provide actual social benefits. Connecting with unknown people on social media is not necessarily related to better health.

Conclusion:

Having a few real-life, close friends is strongly related to better health. While social media enables global connections, it may reduce local interactions and increase feelings of loneliness.

Therefore, even if you don’t have close friends, visiting public places or joining communities related to your hobbies can provide mental benefits and improve your health.

How did you find this?✨✨

As for me, I have a few real friends, about 4-5, but we rarely meet due to distance.😂😂

I usually spend time alone but make an effort to interact with people whenever I can.😂😂

Thank you for reading.☀️☀️ Have a great day!☀️☀️
